Faber-Castell USA, the U.S. unit of the German-based maker of high-end art supplies, fine pens and accessories based in Valley View, has hired Scott Flynn as its new chief executive officer.
Before joining Faber-Castell USA, Flynn was chief commercial officer at PlayMonster and spent 16 years at LEGO.
“The opportunity to lead such a talented and focused team within a globally recognized company that is responsible for bringing memorable creative experiences to the hands of millions around the country and the world is incredibly thrilling,” Flynn said in a statement. “I am committed to utilizing my background and experience within the toy and arts & crafts sectors to continue Faber-Castell USA’s success in the years to come.”
He replaces Jamie Gallagher, who recently retired after 19 years at Faber-Castell USA and is credited for “leading to the company’s immense expansion within the arts & crafts sector in the U.S.,” according to the news release.
The Stein, Germany family-owned company, which dates to 1761, acquired Cleveland-based Creativity for Kids in 1999 and moved its U.S. headquarters to Northeast Ohio.
Crain’s recently reported that Faber-Castell is considering moving from its leased location in Valley View to a new headquarters and distribution center. A potential site currently under consideration is in Independence.
